I drove this thing at the event on the 10th, kinda.   Suffered misfiring issues just before arriving to the track and battled it all night.   I got maybe 9-10 runs in with a car running 100%.  Suspension seemed close to what I want.  The front wheels offset is a bit much.   The fact that the car is basically square makes it kinda twitchy but I think I can tune and drive around that at least some.

I keep loosing coil packs.  1 they are junk yard coils, and 2, I think we found today that we were running wasted-wasted spark instead of wasted spark, so I think we can have that fixed soon.

On the upside.   KP got some rad photos of the car :)

General Discussion / Donut meet.
« on: March 03, 2018, 09:36:54 PM »
I'm posting this last minute, sorry

There's a meet going down tomorrow (March 4th) at Beyond Donuts at 83rd and Union Hills.  I'll be there, Fida will be there in the 1uz Corolla, maybe Dan and Pizza chris too.   Get there early cuz parking was impossible last time.   This meet is bigger than you think.  Come get sushi in the racecars and donuts for dessert. (The pastry kind, or well both I guess if you don't do the car one on site)

Gauge cluster / gauges                                           - Yea, that would be important. (I have a oil pressure gauge lol.  Water temp is steam/Fuel Gauge is a stall/Voltage Gauge is nothing works/Fuel Pressure is in the engine Bay.   Or I can plug in a laptop and data log)
Install magnet inside gas door compartment             - Tape  (Solid Plan-B)
Bleed rear foot brakes                                             -Easier with help (Indeed)
Fida wants to install a temporary dummy alarm light. - Remove battery? (As in if the ECU gets any alarm condition a orange light will go on.)
Put the radio shroud in                                             - Lots of sharp metal pieces under there, good idea. (It also looks much nicer)
Foil tape the firewall/floor openings                           - That passes tech?  (It does in Formula Drift *shrug*)

I might be able to help on Saturday...  (I have Saturday off due to having to work Sunday per IT guys request, so maybe I can buy pizza.)

Musselman is March 4th or April?   I won't be doing anything other than the donut meet this weekend, in fact work may be stopping me from that.

Off the top of my head...

Gauge cluster / gauges
Foot plate for passenger side
Tidy up and repair a couple small wiring things
Cut/shape/finish the side skirts and install
Install the diffuser
Make front canards
True alignment and corner balance
Replace transmission tailshaft seal
Install magnet inside gas door compartment
Make a carbon Sunroof delete
Solid mount the strobe controller box instead of zip ties

Realistic drift event prep:

Bleed rear foot brakes
Top off trans fluid
Check air pressure on tires and spare tires
Fida wants to install a temporary dummy alarm light since the gauges aren't done.
Put the radio shroud in
Top off the fuel tank
Pick up the new helmets
Foil tape the firewall/floor openings
Nut and bolt anything un marked

I think that's about it.   It's more or less already ready to go.

Me and the woman went shopping for helmets yesterday.   We didn't intend to match but we both ended up liking HJC helmets and their flat black.

She got a FG-17,  I got myself a AR-10 iii.    Both are Snell2015 rated.   So we should be good for the next 5 years hopefully.

I'm trying to wrap up a big project at work installing sensors on every machine and wiring the building for automated true counting...   the setup week starts the 13th which means I have to be done by then.   If I finish by Friday the 9th, I'll actually get my saturdays back in time to go hit the drift even March 10th.    Hustle hustle hustle.

Bleeding the ebrake proves to be difficult.   The reservoir is from a sport bike, so you have to constantly too off or risk sucking air into the system.  Also I had to relocate it slightly because the line goes above the brake master and it's almost the same height as the reservoir.

So now that's fixed, and all three reservoirs are easier to fill.   So that's a win.

Ahh the exhaust has been tucked up tighter to the under body in hopes of clearing the trailer when loading.   Also the tip was put on finally

No updates besides that.

Took her out for the first time last night.   Went down the road to the Beyond Donuts Cafe X LastPlaceCo X ForeignLTD meet.   Was a big turnout.

Here are visuals.

I actually drive the car for the first time yesterday.    It hesitates slightly around roughly 3,000-3,500.

It needs an alignment and fresh tires.   But she scoots along well.

Little things left to do such as finish the body stuff, tidy up some wiring, triple check fluids, get some gauges installed, put some miles on it.

I plan on driving her in March at the Drag n Drift events.   So make sure you come out and see the car before it gets destroyed lol

Well if we go off a average drivetrain loss of 30%, and factor that with the 111hp rating on the last pull, we get 158Crank Horsepower.    Iirc toyota gave the silvertop a 160hp rating (crank) from factory.

We've already determined that the engine is struggling to breathe with the "stock" airbox/rwd top piece setup.

Looking at those numbers, I'm happy.   Also considering that my rev limiter is 100rpm lower than stock, but power peaks at 7600-7800 so it's kinda irrelevant.

It's really loud.   And the most efficient noise reducer is a turbo,   Soooo.   Well let's just say it's no longer NOT an option

So UMS session yesterday went better than the first.   Unfortunately we forgot a fuse so we had to cut open the harness to trace out the vvt solenoid... to find we forgot a fuse....  now I'm gonna have to talk Fida into fixing it so it's still pretty.

Looks like the water pump is leaking above 6500rpm.  Gonna have to investigate that.   As well as fix another small coolant leak.

Car made 112hp and 98ft/lbs on pump 91 on Tony's DynaPack Dyno.  Engine revs fine with the new distributor in place and sounds healthy and mean.   It's far too loud.  I need to put atleast one muffler on it.   We did drop a cylinder on the last pull after we finished the Rev limiter and decel tuning.   Pretty sure I'm going to find a fouled plug, or a fried coil pack from riding limiter so much/so long.

It spits flames about 8-10" outthe tail pipe.    I'm pretty sure I have a 1:1 ratio between decibels and horse power....    meh.

Best bet would be the Scottsdale Pavilions on Saturdays.  We haven't had a meet in a while now.   But I'll be out more once I have a running car again

I mean, the race car should be road worthy in a month or two
