New to the forums!
« on: February 25, 2015, 08:09:48 PM »
Good day, all! I just recently acquired a '96 Celica and my brother-in-law, Errin immediately directed me to this site! This isn't my first Toyota and I doubt it will be my last! I hope to see some of you out there!

Wow! Sorry it took so long to get back. Lost track of time working on this thing. I'm trying to attach a photo, but apparently its too large. :( Just replaced the valve cover gasket set and pretty much every hose involved in the power steering system. Thing was just oozing oil and p/s fluid, but not anymore! :)

You don't upload pictures here...

You just link to them.

Upload them to Photobucket or other photo storage site, then in the text of your message, put the link between {img} and {/img}.

Got it! Thanks! She's kind of a work in progress. Just replaced some gaskets, the spark plugs, boots and wires and just about every hose related to power steering and she doesn't leak anymore and no more check engine light! No I have some gunk to clean off the engine, a couple belts to replace, then I need to locate a bumper, turn signal, the two inside headlights and some seats and she will, mostly, be beautiful again!

Well...obviously some body work and paint will be needed as well...

What's wrong with said bumper and inner lights??? They all look fine to me. Maybe just some paint but that's all I see.

Are the inner lights plastic? If so why not just restore them?

That's because I took the pic from her good side. On the driver side, the bumper is cracked pretty badly. Kinda hangs off and won't hold that rubber grommet around the headlight properly and the turn signal doesn't even exist anymore. The driver side inner light is all rusted inside and there's a hole right in the middle of the passenger side inner headlight lens. No operational problems, but I want her to look her best!

The crack is pretty bad, I'm assuming a previous owner nailed something.

I might have been a bit overdramatic when I said, "right in the middle," but it looks like it melted, maybe?

I actually don't doubt that! Thanks, I've been eyeballing that grey one, but its been up there forever. Suppose it couldn't hurt to text him. Hadn't seen the one in Florence yet. Good looking out!

So yeah, I celebrated prematurely. Looks like the p/s pump is leaking. So, I  got a new pump and am going to try to set aside some time to change it tomorrow. Fun!

I was really hoping I would be able to find a video for replacing it, but there doesn't seem to be one...think I'm going to have to tackle this one through the wheel well. FUN!

I grew up watching Rally on TV and playing Gran Turismo.   Castrol racecars are all cool.

These cars are cool, look like they are a pain to work on...   but are cool
"I'm fat and he's Asian.  Crazy food is bound to come up in conversation."
      "wait, am I the Asian?!"
"yeah bro.  Yeah, I think so."
      "I'm white!"
"visually, yes.  But so is Takumi Fujiwara."

Yes....  You are an expert

I've been pretty much all over this thing now and honestly, I've come across much harder cars to work. But that p/s pump does kind of worry me. I always hate having to go through the wheel well.
