Have you got that distributor sorted out yet?

I think so.   JSP is working on it and just got back to me a few days ago.   The picture above is what we are thinking currently and it should be on his site for purchase soon.

From what I understand, you will bolt the AEM EPM puck onto the adapter plate.  You will press out the existing CAS timing gear, press on a new adapter shaft.   Then set TDC on the AEM EPM, and bolt the adapter plate onto the distributor in the same way you would a JSP/SQ-Engineering/any other distributor block off shield.   That will keep the EPM firmly inside the notch on the custom shaft, and will drive the new sensor with no need to source any additional parts.

Based on the pace of things I'm hoping that 6 months will be the absolute longest time frame before its sorted and installed and we can test

(I got kinda shuffled behind some big names like JTP.

No pic??

I looked it up, it gives you 24 crank pulses and 1 cam pulse.

Isn't the 20v set up for 20 crank pulses and 1 cam pulse?

What inputs can the AEM use?  If you can choose the number of teeth on the trigger wheel, that opens up your options a lot.

It seems easy enough just to get a hall sensor (x2) and a custom trigger wheel.

..or the $35 VR convertor.

Don't wait 6 months...

No pictures due to all my stuff being in California at the moment.   I can only be as fast as the turn around time.

Iirc the stock CAS is a 24:1 just like the AEM unit.

Build has been 7+ years.  What's another few months.  Cars never gonna be done anyway lol.   Only thing it has ever been good for is justifying my alcohol intake, and documenting my poor decisions

Just found out Nagashima is recently single.....    Guess I gotta go back to Irwindale this year and make an ass out of myself all over again.

Still waiting on parts back from JSP.   No real updates

Wow.  120 days...

So JSP basically just dicked me around for 11 months lol.   Got the stuff back from him missing some parts.  Whatever.  He makes great products but I'm completely dissatisfied with his customer service and how he handled my business. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Found a new Machinest in Dewey, dude is awesome. I'll drop his Email in my post.

Instead of an adapter plate I'm having him do a 1 off piece.  May have these for sale soon.

You have one of these?

Put a slot in your intake cam bolt and fab a bracket to hold this in front of it.

Plug distributor hole.

Drift.

No.  That's the Honda kit.   I have a "universal" puck.   Same part without the base.

I can have a 20v base (my post above) made for less than the cost of that Honda unit.

Plus, I potentially have a part/fix for AEM to 4AGE 20v solution.   There is a market out there, not a large one, but it's there.

Test fit the new part today.   The bolt tab is too thin, causing the stock bolt to bottom out before tightening the part.   This can be fixed using a shorter bolt or washers.   The production run will correct this issue.

Also since JSP lost the pin to attach the distributor gear, my new machinist installed a roll pin to attach the gear.   This is putting load on the gear and eliminating the "universal joint" effect, due to the gear not being able to pivot slightly.   This was my mistake as I didn't explain this to the Machinest and obviously he didn't have one to measure since it was lost.   He's gonna make be a replacement Toyota pin.   Should be tuning in a matter of weeks.

New part is back and installed in the car already.   It looks nice!   Andrew is going to do the wiring change from the Toyota Dizzy to the new AEM one, then we can re-set timing and do a base tune to test.

Hopefully that goes well then it'll be back to UMS for a tune.

It works!!!

We got the car fired this weekend.   Took us a little to get her timed up we ended up being 360 degrees out.  But it fired up great and had no issue above 3300RPM.   Motor revs clean up to the 5700RPM fuel cut that Tony left on it from the last dyno session.    It doesn't want to hot start.   But that's fine.    I gotta clean up some minor things, and find a trailer to borrow and set up a time with Tony at UMS.

So UMS session yesterday went better than the first.   Unfortunately we forgot a fuse so we had to cut open the harness to trace out the vvt solenoid... to find we forgot a fuse....  now I'm gonna have to talk Fida into fixing it so it's still pretty.

Looks like the water pump is leaking above 6500rpm.  Gonna have to investigate that.   As well as fix another small coolant leak.

Car made 112hp and 98ft/lbs on pump 91 on Tony's DynaPack Dyno.  Engine revs fine with the new distributor in place and sounds healthy and mean.   It's far too loud.  I need to put atleast one muffler on it.   We did drop a cylinder on the last pull after we finished the Rev limiter and decel tuning.   Pretty sure I'm going to find a fouled plug, or a fried coil pack from riding limiter so much/so long.

It spits flames about 8-10" outthe tail pipe.    I'm pretty sure I have a 1:1 ratio between decibels and horse power....    meh.
